Does therapy work for all people?

People often ask why therapy hasn’t worked for them or whether it will work for them. While there is no guarantee that therapy will work for everyone, a number of factors impact on therapy success including:

  • Stage of behaviour change/willingness of the client
  • Compliance to treatment prescribed
  • Therapeutic relationship between client and therapist
  • Severity of illness
  • Treatment provided-evidence based treatment is more effective
