Rachael Willis is the founder of Pure Empowerment Psychology and Principal Psychologist of the practice and brings over 20 years experience as a psychologist working in both Metropolitan and Rural and Regional area of Victoria and Southern New South Wales. She has a background in vocational rehabilitation, mental health and community health, clinical/health centre team management, supervision and consulting to a range of Government and Non-Government organisations.

Rachael has completed a Master of Psychology via Charles Sturt University and undertook studies in: Child and Adolescent Mental Health, Adult Mental Health, Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychologist in practice issues (such as Health Psychology, Grief & Loss, Substance Abuse, Forensic Psychology and Group Therapy) her research dissertation investigated the effectiveness of a Stress Management and Relaxation Program (SMART-RP) on Rural Professionals in terms of reductions in stress and depression and improvements in coping styles.

While Rachael will see all clients across the lifespan, she predominately works with adult clients. Her clinical areas of interest include: Mood disorders (depression and bi-polar), anxiety disorders, sleep disorders, adjustment/stress related issues, grief and loss, parenting education, ante/post natal depression, sport psychology, career coaching/development and chronic health related issues/diseases.

Rachael’s dynamic treatment approaches include: Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT) and Schema Focused Therapy (SFT).  These approaches are all short-medium term approaches and are evidence based. She does not provide forensic/court reports, crisis/acute risk assessments or supportive non-directed general counselling approaches. In addition, while registered as a Workcover and TAC provider, Rachael only provides a limited number of sessions under this scope of funding.

A dual qualified EAGALA practitioner (both as  a Mental Health Practitioner and as an Equine Specialist), Rachael also launched “Equine Empowerment” in May 2018 to the current program offerings of Pure Empowerment Psychology- see Equine Empowerment Page for more details.

 

 

Donna Dunham

Registered Psychologist 

(Mondays to Fridays)

Donna is a registered psychologist.  She completed her psychology degree at Deakin University, and completed her final year of a Master of Professional Psychology at Cairnmillar Institute.  Donna’s research dissertation was titled: Distinguishing Between Self and Other in People with Autism: – a topic close to her heart. Donna completed 2 years of  her 5 + 1 internship training at Pure Empowerment Psychology later qualifying and continuing on in her role as a psychologist.

Donna has worked for the past 5 years with adolescents in the areas of: trauma, PTSD, mental health issues (depression, anxiety, personality disorders), attachment issues, and substance abuse.  She has undergone training in: Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT); Mindfulness; Trauma-Informed Approach (The Neurosequential Model with Bruce Perry); Posttraumatic Stress Disorder; Art Therapy (ARTPA); and Eye Movement Desensitisation & Reprocessing (EMDR; Graham Taylor).

Donna looks forward to meeting with all clients across the lifespan on Mondays to Fridays, at an affordable fee.

Tara Seach is our smiling face at reception and the enthusiastic young lady on the end of the telephone who is only too happy to assist you with booking appointments, provide you with information about fees and services and assist in anyway that makes your visit to the practice a pleasant and a professional one. Tara understands the importance of client confidentiality, privacy and respect.

Tara has studied psychology and Law in her VCE studies and has had experience in customer support with her previous role at a local pharmacy working within customer service. Tara  values understands the importance of client confidentiality, privacy and respect and has completed training in  RRIGHT  (developed by Michelle Grosvenor and Gerda Muller), a practice management program developed for administration team members of Private Practices (psychology and allied health).

Tara ensures to:

  • Meet and greet every client in a timely and pleasant manner.
  • Offer you refreshment’s upon your arrival and allow you to relax prior to your appointment.
  • Explain the fees, payment terms and rebates that apply. She will also assist you to process payments, Medicare rebates and Private Health Insurance rebates onsite via HICAPS.
  • Assist you to complete the background client questionnaire and answer any questions you may have.
  • Book and confirm your initial and ongoing appointments via the internet, telephone and SMS reminders.
  • Liaise with your referring GP clinic to follow up relevant referral information.
  • Send you a confidential client feedback questionnaire (at the completion your treatment episode).
  • Obtain, record and store all of your confidential information as per the Privacy Act
